19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's initial championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on court had caused some to question if his capacity to play at the top level was over.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
Moutet defended four initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
